In this probing study of the Czech hotel business, Alain Eclair draws playful, relaxed, spirited performances from eight superb young models. The spotlight falls mainly on Adam Kubrick, a delicate, dark-blond sprite who appears in four out of six segments, but most of his co-stars merit vehicles of their own. They also deserve new professional names. Does a fake American moniker like Tad Harrison actually boost the career of a Czech, Slovak, or Hungarian model? Do European porn producers think Czech names-- Franz Kafka, Vaclav Havel-- are too weird for American consumers?

Whatever its cast members choose to be called, Suite Service is mostly a treat. The editing sometimes falters, and the English voiceovers often fall flat, but there's life in every scene. An establishing shot pinpoints the setting as the Hotel Praha, a vast, surreal relic of the communist era; some interior sequences appear to have been filmed there. Kubrick, who doubles as room service waiter and sauna attendant, is conscientiously attentive to the male guests. ("I'm more than happy to make their stay as pleasurable as possible.") Because he seems fragile and well-bred, it's startling to watch him emerge as a freshman satyr who throws himself into his work with go-for-broke lewdness and wanton versatility.

In the opening scene, Kubrick serves coffee to a male couple in bed; the predictable narrative arc leads up to a triple cumshot. Then, in the hotel's health-club area (shot at some downscale venue that doesn't match the decor of the five-star Praha), he's successively fucked by Gareth Bates and Ross Fiala-- who, in a scene all their own, raise the temperature of a hot tub. Kubrick also tangles, at least in daydreams, with fellow hotel employee Jeremy Strong, a beaming Young Pioneer type with thick dark hair. Suite Service concludes with a room-service romp involving Strong and a pair of gorgeous, horny hotel guests; the sequence includes a semen-slurping vignette-- de rigueur these days for Tribal Pulse releases.
