How to order

In a run-down jazz club along the Miami waterfront, a combo plays sad, cool music for sailors and transients. Melancholy tones come easily to Ferran Griego, the Chet Baker-ish singer/saxophonist, whose love for bassist Buddy Jones is terminally unrequited. In the first half, Griego connects with Jones in his dreams. In the second half, he makes more promising contact with a young clarinetist, Antonio Rico, in reality.

This long, at times gorgeous two-cassette video isn't as consistently handsome as Kristen Bjorn's best productions. In some sequences, the color varies distractingly from shot to shot and even seems weirdly abraded. Griego, Jones, and Rico aren't very convincing as musicians, and Griego's narration is slightly precious. Some of Bjorn's signature effects no-hands orgasms, semen spattering the camera lens are getting tired. Bjorn leads us through familiar territory, even throwing in at least one direct quote from his award-winning Manwatcher. But none of this is of much importance in the context of nearly four hours' worth of ecstatic, riveting, mostly multi-partner sex.

In each of eight episodes, some liquid acts as a sexual catalyst milk, beer, urine, suds, champagne, rain, and the sea. There are also torrents of spooge. You knows you're in good directorial hands when Buddy Jones pours milk down his naked torso, or penetrates Hans Hintern with a beer bottle, or laughs with delight as Griego starts to fuck him, or ejaculates into his own mouth. Or when Istvan Turani, Serge Des Marais, and Alexei Gromoff thrust their erections through iron grillwork. Or when Miguel Leon squirts jizz all over Zsolt Kopacs's hard cock, then hungrily licks it off. Or when Griego tenderly probes Rico's anus with his tongue. Wet Dreams may not represent Kristen Bjorn at a peak of excellence, but it outshines the competition by a couple of kilowatts.
