Nearly a year after Abbott had to halt the sale of the capsule form of Norvir because of production-related problems, the company said Wednesday it has won
Food and Drug Administration permission to sell a soft-gelatin capsule form of the AIDS drug. Since last July, Norvir has been available only in liquid form, but Abbott
said the newly approved version would be available for consumer use as early as next week. The capsules can be kept at room temperature for 30 days, but Abbott
is encouraging patients to keep the product refrigerated.
