How to order
Spoofing Leo, the MGM lion, the MSR Videos logo shows an oinking, leather-clad hog posed porkily above the slogan "All Men Are Pigs." In
Manhattan Sex Party, the slogan is earned. This 21-man group-sex free-for-all,
which aspires to the energized kaleidoscopic atmosphere of the Joe Gage orgy classic
Closed Set, seems at times to spin out of control, and threatens for much of its first hour to be nothing more than an onslaught of hot but incoherently edited snippets. Eventually, however, when the action coalesces around a few principal groupings, and-- in the tradition of
Closed Set-- one of the cameramen gets caught up in the sex, it gets irresistible.
Standout participants include lean, scrappy Rick Allen, sultry Latino Max Grand, and African-American Jack Simmons (who should have received star billing). The piggiest performer is Gabriel Cortes, who-- at least in
the uncensored, full-length director's cut-- slithers around openmouthed, ingesting the semen of at least half a dozen of his partners. The action takes place at New York's El Mirage, a sex club on East Houston Street between
Avenues A and B. It must be said that in the erotophobic reign of Mayor Rudolph Giuliani, every Manhattan sex party deserves applause.
