A report presented at the Third Annual National AIDS Malignancy Conference recommends the use of highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART) along
with chemotherapy, when treating HIV-related non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. Investigators studied HIV-positive patients receiving a low-dose chemotherapy regimen and a
high-dose chemotherapy regimen. The combination of chemotherapy and HAART was well tolerated, few negative drug interactions were observed, and toxicities
were similar to those in patients without HIV.
