How to order
Muscle obsessives will enjoy this well-crafted bouquet of sex loops-- three duos and a solo-- directed by British beef connoisseur Blue Blake. Each segment invokes ancient myth. In the opening portion, "Mercury," Robert Van Damme's skates and hockey stick may have been
meant to suggest the divine messenger's winged boots and staff. In any case, Van Damme casts an Olympian spell on equally bulked-up Ace Hanson, who connects with him in a locker room. In the next sketch, "Thoth," a nod to the Egyptian god of wisdom, Brad Rock and Billy Frank
fuck on leather armchairs in a library. Then, in "Narcissus," bald muscle stud Vinnie Diesel admires his reflection in a mirror as he works out, flexes, and jerks off.
Top-billed Jason Adonis appears in the final episode-- called, of course, "Adonis." This campily monikered young bodybuilder has come a long way since his early, inert appearances in Jet Set videos. (Working with Chi Chi LaRue appears to have helped.) He hasn't reached
celestial stature, but he's become recognizably human. Maybe that's the point; the Adonis of myth was not a god but a mortal hopelessly adored by Venus, goddess of love. Here the Adonis figure is more felicitously paired with fellow mortal Jason Ridge, a skilled performer whose firm,
non-hulking physique provides a welcome contrast to the prevailing Charles Atlas aesthetic.
Blue Blake has announced that Young
Gods will be his last production; it's a modest but graceful segue into retirement.
