This is the second volume in a series that threatens to revisit all those male spaces that have been done to death in gay porn. In its predecessor, Pistons, director John Travis reinvigorated trite old garage-mechanic scenarios; in Pledges, Derek Kent doesn't quite do the same for frathouse sex. There's some overlap. Roland Dane, a European model best known as Johnny Brosnan's Greek friend in Falcon's Out of Athens, makes an odd American frat-brat, but he reprises his fraternity-brother role from Pistons here. And hulking Hungarian Robert Balint, the mechanic Cameron Fox caught jerking off in the previous installment, falls out of his jumpsuit again when he stops by to service Matt Fuller's car (and to give Matt Fuller an intensive tune-up). The five one-on-one sex scenes aren't bad, just unremarkable-- though Brett Collins does get to pour beer into Ross Stuart's butthole in the second segment, and pledgemaster Devon Barry orders Mike Austin to sit on his haunches "like a dog" in the third.
