How to order
There are two kinds of Kristen Bjorn productions: works of art
(Mystery Men, Comrades in Arms) that establish standards of excellence for gay erotic video, and
well-directed, technically superior porn. Hot Times in Little
Havana belongs in the second category, a notch below Bjorn's best efforts, a notch above almost everyone else's.
Like most of Bjorn's recent work, it tells a story. In a beautifully rendered montage of old Havana, Julio (Julio Duran) wanders through the streets and along
the waterfront, disconsolately wondering what became of Jorge (Jorge Martinez), his lost lover, who emigrated to the United States the year before. Desperate,
Julio chances the crossing to Florida on a raft made of doors lashed to automobile tires. U.S. Coast Guardsmen Bruno Diaz and Buddy Jones intercept him as he nears
Miami, where Jorge has settled. After a strip search escalates into sex, Jorge is allowed to go free.
As Julio combs Miami ("Little Havana") for Jorge, he keeps getting propositioned. (Since he's an exquisitely compact package of young Cuban manhood clad
in ass-hugging Levi cutoffs, this isn't surprising.) Before the lovers are reunited, we pass through half a dozen sexual encounters with two, three, five and six
participants drawn from Bjorn's astonishing pool of multi-national buffed satyrs. Some of Bjorn's compositions are more posed and studied than usual, but every sex scene still
is highly charged, with an emphasis on Bjorn's trademark no-hands orgasms, and on shots of men licking their own semen off their partners' torsos and buttocks.
Jorge Martinez, who combines the face of an Olmec deity with the body of a George Platt Lynes model, is worth the trouble it takes to find him. His reunion with
Julio actually has the emotional punch of a reunion, and Duran responds to it with such intensity that when he comes, he hits himself in the eye.
