This wobbly cavalcade of flesh introduces the "naked cocktail party" series promised by Jason "JayBear" Berringer in his debut video, JayBear's Fur Fun. After a prefatory sequence, two JayBear orgies unfold. The first is a jumpily edited, more or less vanilla romp attended by a mix of types including two fat guys. In the second, JayBear and friends wear leather trappings and indulge in unthreateningly kinky activities like faux flagellation. The action peaks twice: in the prologue, when Carl Barnes has a no-hands orgasm while being fucked on a beach by Kent Buchanan, and at the very end, when tightly wound bottom Rex Lewis unspools in a lengthy, shuddering climax.

Writer/director Berringer, an unprepossessing gentleman who looks about 40, has a likable, funny-uncle quality. But his relentless exhibitionism wears out its welcome. Even the Barnes-Buchanan one-on-one segment is subverted by intercut footage of JayBear jerking off at home. This video could have used a stronger directorial presence; it's as if the director is too busy showing off in front of the camera to step behind it and do his job. It seems especially strange that this should be one of those rare porn videos whose DVD edition comes equipped with director's commentaries. In these musings, Berringer says he derives a feeling of power from getting men naked and making them do his bidding. He also goes on about the "cinéma vérité" quality of his work, and sounds as though he's trying to cloak his amateurishness in film-school pretension.
