Most devotees of gay porn know by now that writer-director "Bud Light" is actually writer-director Wash West (Animus, Technical Ecstasy, Gluttony) operating in quickie mode. West, a funny, literate artist who as Wash Westmoreland recently crossed over into theatrical features with The Fluffer, seems to reserve the Bud Light persona for thinly budgeted, hastily cranked-out projects. But some of the productions he tosses off as Bud Light, like Devil Is a Bottom, last year's The Florida Erection, and this amiable piece of silliness, are almost on a par with releases that carry the Wash West imprimatur.

I> Porn Academy is a mock documentary set in a kind of boot camp where male pornstar aspirants raise their sexual skills to the standards of good, old-fashioned "VHS-quality" gay smut. Jogging in formation under the opening credits, the new recruits chant, Marine-style:

Hassock-shaped porn veteran Ron Jeremy presides as headmaster.
