Five vignettes depicting farm boys at play. A horse who kvetches about people's self-absorption narrates. Viewers who were blown away by Christian Taylor's debut appearance in Kevin Clarke's
The American Way will be disappointed to learn that Taylor, cast as melancholy Brendan Sterling's lost love, appears in the opening segment, then is seen no more. Chemistry between Taylor and Sterling is weak; Taylor seems closed and
self-conscious here. Ashton Ryan, Junior Studio's other chief asset, doesn't fare much better. Michael Dillon, a happy exhibitionist, seems to have a better time with his dildo than most of his young, fresh, inexpressive buddies do with
one another.
