How to order
Paul Barresi, a quirkily talented maverick director whose best work deals with masculine sexual hypocrisies, seems to have had more freedom to be himself in this bent football melodrama than
in his previous Studio 2000 outing, When Sparks
Fly. The story concerns the efforts of snotty Anthony Shaw, senior editor of the
University Times, to wreak vengeance on gridiron star Matt
Spencer for rejecting his advances. Determined to expose the campus football team as a cadre of big fags, Shaw sends underling Drew Larson to snoop around.
Barresi's script doesn't deal with the implications of malicious outing, but it does provide a framework for four not-bad sex scenes-- five if you count the dildo-enhanced solo that
precedes football player Rick Hammersmith's hot grapplings with Dante, a member of the wrestling team. In the best scene, when Larson is caught watching coach Sam Dixon's kinky interactions with
team members' jockstraps, fierce reciprocal fucking ensues. Finally, Matt Spencer gives Shaw his comeuppance by giving him what he wants, and more-- stopping just short of spinal injury. Spencer
is superbly built in so many ways, especially above the knee and below the navel, that you may not mind that he doesn't seem built for football.
