Brazil Nuts

Nunes.
How to order
There's a numbing sameness to the eight-or-so erotic segments that comprise this unscripted cheapie import. Under Luciano Loreno's fuzzy direction, the five eager models, each of whom appears more
than once, aren't given any distinguishing characteristics. Since the names of these almost interchangeable young studs aren't matched to their faces in the credits, confusion is assured. All the action takes place in the same patch
of ground whose barrenness is interrupted by stalks of bamboo and a few gnarly trees.
At its occasional best, Brazil Nuts is a fugue of toffee-colored flesh. At its frequent worst, it's a technically amateurish bore. When something promising comes up-- like one performer being fucked
while hanging from a tree-- it's thrown away. Francisco Palermo's hand-held camera prowls around, slips out of focus, dips and jiggles, and collides with low-hanging branches. Palermo and Loreno are particularly fond of
penises thrusting at the camera in extreme close-up, sometimes hitting the lens. Meanwhile, on the soundtrack, there's a variant of the send-us-money theme from PBS; an annoying flute solo; and a grating medley of traffic
sounds, wind in the trees, birdcalls, barking dogs, and strange dull thuds. There's also an intriguing stream of muttered Portuguese, none of it subtitled. With a running time of nearly two
hours, Brazil Nuts is a lot to munch on.
