How to order
Like Flash Conway's recent Here Comes
Santa, Pickin' Up Tricks suggests that Canadian porn production can and should have a future. The premise here, which parallels reality, is that director Conor J. Murphy and crew keep scouring the streets of Montreal for presentable young
men, some of them hustlers, willing to have sex on camera for the first time. The candid-camera recruitments seem staged, but the models are open, relaxed, uninhibited, and very appealing. Everyone involved in this production seems to be doing it for a lark, and there's a tonic
spontaneity. Murphy takes time to establish his models as people. As a result, despite amateur fumbles, the sex is red-hot. The models' enjoyment of what they're doing registers in their Boticelli-angel faces; laughter erupts in the middle of fucking. There isn't a dud among the four sex
scenes, but the best may be the opening three-way involving Bruce, Alex and Simon, who twist themselves into a rapturous pretzel. Other standout performers include Blue, a white French-Canadian rapper with bright cobalt hair.
