Brent Banes is a natural for erotic videos. "I'm very much a person who loves to be the center of attention and show off," shares the self-proclaimed exhibitionist.
"Being in front of a camera for the first time didn't bother me because I've always done theater, and performing in front of the crew and camera isn't much different than performing in front of an audience," he explains.
"My first film was for Zeus Studios, and I'm really glad to have started out with a company that's been a pioneer in the industry," he continues. "It was a very relaxed set and crew with a lot of joking, but I didn't realize all the work you have to put into it! I
just thought basically it would be throwing a rug down on the floor and the director saying 'Action,' but I found out that it's totally the opposite."
All in all, his first experience with porno was fun, he says. "But," he adds, "after ten hours, I didn't want to see another penis for a few days."
The cast of his debut video also included Banes's real-life lover, famous porn star Eric Evans. "I never really was very interested in porno until I met Eric," he says. "Heck, I had no clue who he was the first time I met him."
The two musclemen have since worked together in several videos.
"I love exploring with Eric in front of the camera," says Banes. "It fulfills the exhibitionist craving I have. We both know what works between us and what doesn't, and the viewer never gets a sense that one is enjoying it and the other isn't."
They also enjoy cracking each other up, as well as the rest of the cast and crew.
"I remember one time we were shooting and I called Eric 'my bitch,'" Banes recounts. "It wasn't planned; I didn't expect to say that, it just came out, and we all laughed. But I guess the funniest time is whenever we wrap towels around our heads and we do
our Cher impersonations. This always breaks up any tension."
Banes is originally from the Southeast Tennessee to be exact. "It's the middle of the Bible Belt, and being gay was quite difficult," he says. "I loved growing up there, a very friendly area and beautiful part of the state. Living there taught me how to be my
own person and how to be a very down-to-earth kind of guy. The only thing that I didn't like was that it was slow and behind the times. I've always been drawn to big city life and growing up in a small city where everyone pretty much knows you, it just wasn't me."
So he relocated to San Francisco, which he says was the best move he could have made.
"The only thing I dislike about the Bay Area is the cost of living, but other than that, I love it. It totally feels like a community here and that is something I crave. The people are just simply wonderful and the parties thrown here are just as awesome. The guys
here-- well, simply put in a word, they're
men. Very friendly and honest, and I like that. I've also noticed that they're very aggressive, and that was something I wasn't used to when I moved here. For instance, here in San Francisco, guys look directly into you eyes as you
walk up the street. Whereas back in Tennessee, as soon as someone's eyes met yours, you looked away instantly. Funny, huh?"
Among his video credits are Hard Desires, Mouth Wide Open, My Own Private Glory Hole, Spy Hard, To the
Max, and Vampire Boys.
Currently working in the medical field, Banes describes his involvement in the erotic entertainment industry as "only a hobby for me, an outlet because I love to show off."
