Torture Architect Gonzales
Thank you for your concerns about the Senate's confirmation of Alberto Gonzales to serve as U.S. Attorney General. I take very seriously my Constitutional duty to give advice and
consent on nominees to the President's cabinet.
The Attorney General is our nation's chief law enforcement officer, tasked with upholding the Constitution and our laws.
Although Mr. Gonzales has a truly remarkable personal story, the poor judgment he has exercised in his role as White House Counsel has resulted in serious consequences that
cannot be overlooked when considering this nomination.
Mr. Gonzales was the legal architect of this Administration's policies on torture and the treatment of detainees-- policies that resulted in the despicable torture of prisoners in
Iraq, Afghanistan, and Guantanamo., The vast majority of these prisoners were never charged with any crime, and even our own State Department had grave misgivings about redefining
our torture policy.
The torture policies that Mr. Gonzales pursued on behalf of the Administration have done immeasurable damage to America's standing in the world, undermined our military rules
and traditions, and exposed our own soldiers and citizens to greater risks.

A Conspiracy?
Speedos are hot. Especially on a hot male body. Some of us must be very disappointed to see Olympic swimmers donning body length suits. Oh well, we'll just have to watch the
diving competition.
I have a suspicion that men generally are becoming more modest, reversing a trend that began in the 50s of smaller, tighter clothes. Or at least clothing manufacturers are steering
this trend. If you look at basketball uniforms, track uniforms, jeans, and most clothes that are designed for men, they have gotten baggier, fuller and more covering. Note the prevalence of
knee-length boxer shorts and pants that are four sizes too big.
Clothing nowadays is meant to reveal the woman's body, but hide the man's. Is this a conspiracy by the super homophobic business elite? Who knows?
