How to order
This enjoyable mess is the latest in a series of videos documenting and promoting the O Boys, L.A.'s peripatetic brotherhood of sex-party entrepreneurs. Primarily a collaboration between
producer/director Karen Dior (ne Geoff Gann, a.k.a. Rick Van) and O Boys cofounder Alan Gassman,
"O" Is for Orgy is the work of many hands and something of a hodgepodge. "This isn't a slick porn film," says event coordinator Marshall
O Boy toward the beginning. "This is about real men having real sex." That approach sounds refreshing, but the result is like an uneven, slightly esoteric home movie.
Most of the action footage was captured at a 70-man orgy in a big, garage-like industrial space. There are also flashbacks to parties in 1990, 1993, and 1995, and interviews with O Boy regulars, friends,
and guests. Halfway through, porn star Sweet Williams steps out of the action, beckons us into a bathroom, and offers a lesson in cockring maintenance. Marshall O Boy, his loins girded with pink see-through plastic
wrap arranged to look like kinky shorts, steps
into the action to give a wiry young dude a body shave under a shower. The current crop of partygoers includes a broader range of ages and physical types than could be found at O
Boy bashes in the early '90s.
The whole point of O Boy events is to celebrate sex and to show that sexual freedom can remain an option in the age of AIDS. That eminently worthwhile point does come across in this video,
which encourages both promiscuity and safer sex. (At O Boys parties, condomless fucking is prohibited, and warning signs abound.)
"O" Is for Orgy may be less successful as jackoff material than as an inspiration to
viewers interested in assembling parties of their own, but on those terms, it succeeds admirably.
