How to order
Volcanoes, one of the two or three best of a spate of Steve Cadro productions released since the Hungarian director's murder last March, dispatches the auspiciously (if dopily) named El Volcan off to the Canary Islands on
a quest for warmth and sensual abandon. Fleeing cold, lonely Budapest, where people you meet at the sauna tend to be pissy narcissists, El Volcan finds all the heat he needs in the subtropical Atlantic archipelago, a
setting whose overdue gay adult video debut this seems to be.
There are half a dozen sex sequences, five of them set outdoors around the rugged coast and barren hills of Gran Canaria, largest and gayest of the Spanish-owned islands. Shots of young naked men
scrambling across the primitive, Galapagos-like volcanic landscape are a naturist's delight. (You may wish Cadro had tapped into local talent, but these vacationing lads from Eastern Europe are addictively watchable.) There
are celebratory multi-partner encounters in an ash-filled crater, on a lava bed, and by a stone wall overlooking the sea. But the two most effective scenes are duos in which Joci, who looks like Antonio Banderas's
college-age brother, trades blowjobs with sandy-haired Hoyos on surf-splashed rocks, and fucks El Volcan on the edge of an old rustic well.
