The half-dozen scenes comprising Redwood work sequentially like movements in a piece of music. Co-directors Robert Kirsch and Bruce Cam, the team responsible for Fallen Angel, demonstrate again that porn loops can be works of art. Cam's videography, articulately edited by Tab Lloyd, yields visually gorgeous sequences that rival the work of Kristen Bjorn. The radiant color, full of saturated greens and rusts, produces a tactile charge. When flesh touches flesh, you feel the heat.

Redwood was shot in and around the Fern Falls lodge near Cazadero, California, just north of the Russian River. (To Titan Media's credit, the promotional aspect is kept low-key.) The woodland resort is transmuted into an erotic utopian playground where everyone is constantly aroused. There are memorable vignettes: Will Clark apparently trying to bite chunks out of Craig Stevens; Thomas Lloyd whacking Austin Woods's ass with his hand; Alec Powers fucking Brad King atop a moss-covered flat-topped boulder; Stevens masturbating on a plank; Joshua Michaels hungrily fellating Stevens and Peter Roth through glory holes; Powers, King, Woods, Roth, Stevens and Michaels passionately merging on a deck.

Titan Media offers a superfluous, mildly entertaining CD-ROM as a supplement to this video. It contains a map of the Fern Falls complex, stills, a quiz, and some bonus video footage. It promises, but doesn't fully deliver, interactive sexual scenarios where you can select your own perspective as top or bottom or just get a voyeuristic overview. The video clips are intense but much too brief; extra material promised through an Internet connection is strictly a merchandising ploy. If you buy or rent only the video, you'll be opting for the main event.
