How to order
To make ends meet and keep his landlord at bay, shopkeeper Vilem Cage lets paying customers use the back room of his convenience store for half-hour sexual trysts. Accessibly attractive, with a subdued look of sly, bemused
lust, Cage is so turned on by his sideline that he comes in his pants aboard a streetcar while
en route to a gay club for a sex break. Later, he's sucked off under the counter at his shop by a local urchin (Felix Slovacek), and holds his
own back-room revel with a muscular blond customer (Miro Lanko) and a wiry, dark-haired delivery man (Slavo Kopecky). The five sex scenes are mostly spirited and sometimes electric.
Recently there has been a surfeit of videos made in the Czech Republic for American release. Few of these withstand comparison to the Falcon International and Bel Ami productions that whetted viewers' appetites
for Eastern European models. The endlessly recycled premises-- fun in the Czech army, a country weekend for horny young city folk-- have grown stupefyingly stale. Under Jan Novak's canny direction, however, the sexual
setups in The Back Room are less hackneyed and more closely connected to the street life of Prague. Tied into everyday urban existence, the sex seems more real, more urgent, and more fun.
