Behind the bar and ready to serve
you at Q Lounge in Charlotte
|
In the heart of the southern Piedmont between the mountains and the coast lies Charlotte, the "Queen City" of the South. Charlotte thrives on banking, but is much more than a busy financial center. Picture a
multi-level Victorian home restored and voted best gay bar by www.citysearch.com and you have Liaisons (316 Rensselaer). In the Dilworth neighborhood, Liaisons opens at 5pm daily. They offer excellent food and great drink
prices. With weekly plate-lunch specials, the lasagna is my favorite. And of course you must have the homemade cheesecake. Check out our daily drink specials-- and we mean
special. Don't like the cocktail of the day? Not
a problem-- their domestic beer prices remain unchanged since 1989!
Q Lounge (521 N. College) is Charlotte's newest bar with a very modern and elaborate video bar. Q is a gay video lounge located in the North End of uptown Charlotte. Designed by South Beach interior-design
wizard Malcolm Kelso, Q offers a luxurious environment for meeting old friends or making new ones. Their modern exterior, superior drink menu and vibrating dance videos make this lounge everything their upscale clientele
could ask for. Lounge on their chic patio, get cozy with friends on their banquettes, or check out the fun-house backroom-- anything's possible at Q. They are open Tuesday through Sunday from 8pm until 2am.
Genesis (607 W. 5th) offers "breakbeat at its finest." "Thumpin' Thursdays" with DJ Da Bomb are where you can get a draft for just 50 cents. On "Freakin' Fridays" $2 gets you house drinks and Bud Lights.
Saturday nights are great for dancing at Genesis.
Mythos (300 N. College) is Charlotte's daddy of uptown dance clubs featuring DJ's of local, regional, national, and international fame. The turntables at this den of dance have been touched by the likes of
Danny Tenaglia, Victor Calderone, Johnny Vicious, Frankie Knuckles, Roger S., Sasha, and Digweed and many more. Mythos prides itself both on the quality of its sounds and the diversity of its clientele. All who embrace
tolerance and the love of music are welcome. Mythos is open Wednesday through Saturday from 10pm until 4am.
Other bars include Brass Rail (3707 Wilkinson), Central Station (2131 Central), Chasers (3217 The Plaza), Danny's Pub (2204 Park), Scorpios (2301 Freedom), and soon to open
Velocity.
