Only here would an elected official such as Board of Supervisors prez Tom Ammiano
rub shoulders at a City Hall confab with the likes of Sister Anne R. Key, Mistress of Propaganda for the Sisters
of Perpetual Indulgence. The event in question is the second annual National Queer Arts Festival, running for two months from
the beginning of June to the end of July. There are too many poetry readings, art exhibits, film screenings, musical
performances, and such to mention. But the likes of choreographer Bill T. Jones, comics Marga Gomez and Tom
Ammiano (him again), and writers Mark Doty and Dorothy Allison will
show up to perform and delight. For info, call the festival
hotline at 415-552-7709, or browse over to www.queerculturalcenter.org.
