Consumer Report's "Selling It" feature (highlighting ill-thought-thru and/or misleading ad campaigns) often amuses.
Recently, CR noted that "Starburst" hard candies wrapper warns: "While enjoying candy or other food, avoid activities that could cause it/them to accidently lodge in throat." (Dawn might add: "Do not
insert candies in urethra nor in eyesocket behind eyeball....") On the same page was a "Fat Be Gone" ring which promised to reduce fat in the "face, hips, buttocks, stomach, and thighs... For best results, maintain a
nutritionally balanced diet and exercise regularly while wearing your ring."
Dawn would like CR to consider Dinty Moore (who names their kid "Dinty"?)
canned beef stew "now with
fresh carrots and potatoes." Quite a trick to strap fresh produce to each can....
