Edmund Morris, author of the recently-released Reagan bio
Dutch, includes this little snippet as part of his "fictionalized" narrator's boyhood remembrance of the
high-school Reagan: "The square-cut youth and I briefly exchanged glances. I had an odd sensation of blueness and blindness. I dropped the candy wrapper I had
been holding, and as I reached for it, his wet sleeve brushed my hand." Oh dear. Is Morris trying to tell us something about young Dutch Reagan or himself? Either
way, Dawn doesn't want to think about it too much.
