A recent issue of Pediatrics, reports on a case in North Carolina, wherein a two-year-old boy developed pubic hair, facial acne, and an enlarged penis. The docs ascribe the boy's precocious sexual develo pment to his accidental exposure to the testosterone cream his father used as part of a body-building regimen. The boy absorbed the cream through his skin, by contact with his father, the exercise equi pment, and the mats. The father had been applying four ounces of the cream daily to his back and arms.

Testosterone cream is sold over the counter in many countries, although not in the United States, but it is widely available on the black market, bought primarily by bodybuilders looking to increase muscle mass.

The North Carolina boy seems to be recovering. Both pubic hair and acne diminished within four months when he was no longer exposed to the testosterone cream, although penile size did not, so it looks as though the poor lad may be saddled with a freakishly large penis for the rest of his life....
