Vadim, a raven-haired, sweet-faced theater arts student in the provincial Siberian city of Chita, auditions for a joint Siberian/American video project; this self-referential production tells how he was chosen to star in
an account of his own selection. We meet Vadim's fellow auditionees, some of whom are cute. Alas, this video is long on sparkling water and copper sunsets, but so short on sex that it would be a stretch to call it softcore.
The most erotic nudity comes at the beginning, when Vadim wakes up and kicks away his bed sheet to reveal a hint of erection. The Siberian setting is intriguing, however, and Vadim and his friend Andrey, who are
almost certainly straight, are physically comfortable with one another in a way Americans almost never are.
