Cole Tucker, in the news last month for consorting with a British MP, brings a mature, masculine persona to porn
By
Ed Karvoski, Jr.
The "Best Top" title was be stowed upon Cole Tucker at the 1998 Probie Awards, but actually the
45-year-old porn star defies such narrow categorization. "I'm not a top, I'm not a bottom; I'm a man enjoying sex,"
he states for the record.
In whatever position fans enjoy watching him, Tucker is unquestionably on top of the all-male X-rated
biz. And to prove it, he recently picked up two top honors at the 1st Annual GayVN Awards: Best Supporting
Actor (Catalinaville) and the evening's most coveted award presented to an individual, Performer of the Year.
Tucker's been in other kinds of news lately. He was visited recently in Amsterdam by his friend Tom
Spencer, Conservative Whip in the European Parliament, who was nabbed on his return to the UK with
marijuana, coke, and porn.
There are so many guys in the biz, but just a handful of names that everyone
recognizes, you're among them. How does that happen?
I really don't know how that happens. I'm totally dumbfounded by that, but certainly delighted. When
I started, I wanted to do this to have a permanent record of how I felt as a man in my mid-40s and how I
felt sexually, with no concept at all of becoming so recognizable or such a force in the industry at this time.
Who would dare to even think of that? I just wanted to make a movie.
It's so unusual for someone to start doing porno in his 40s. How do you explain that
it seems to have worked in your favor?
I think there are several reasons. First, the baby boomer generation is getting to a point where it has
disposable income, so the gay baby boomers are able to indulge in some luxury items such as porn videos.
Plus, their tastes are different than previous generations; theirs is a little edgier than a generation before and
they tend to like older guys. I think part of that is predicated by the fact that many guys who would be in their
30s or 40s or early 50s aren't around anymore, and we obviously know why that is, sadly so. So I think there's
a pent-up desire to have that imagery in our culture.
Do you tend to be more attracted to older guys, younger guys, or is there a preference?
On the surface, if one is going to categorize me, I think that my head would turn for an older guy
much quicker than it would for a younger guy, but I wouldn't dismiss anyone. For me, the sexiest attribute a
guy could have is his mind, and that can be encased in a body of any age. Though if I were just out and
looking around randomly, I would get a stir in my loins from a guy with a little salt and pepper in his goatee and
a tattoo. But if a younger guy comes along and he has the right mental attitude, I'm right there with him.
If you had to recommend just one of your videos for fans to see, which one would it be?
I'm going to have to qualify it. Right now, if you like to see me solely as a top, I recommend
Gay Master from Centaur Films or the soon-to-be-released
Big Guns 2 from Catalina. If you like to see me in a more
diverse sexual role the way I really am I recommend
Fallen Angel or Chi Chi LaRue's Link 2
Link [GayVN winner for Best All-Sex Video]. Overall, as a total video, I think
Link 2 Link is the best video I've ever been in.
Why?
It's two and a half hours of non-stop, unbelievable sex with 23 of the hottest men you've ever seen
having all different versions of leather and kinky sex, and it goes on and on and on and on without a word of
dialogue. I don't usually get aroused by watching my own movies. I watch them for a technical aspect to see what
I could do better. But watching this movie, I completely forgot that I was in it.
Was it as enjoyable to work on Link 2
Link as it is to watch?
It was amazing! It was filmed at Blow Buddies in San Francisco and Chi Chi took on an extraordinary task.
It was a very ambitious shooting schedule. Chi Chi said that the porn goddess was shining down on us, because
it went like clockwork. There wasn't a problem in all four days, and that's two scenes a day.
If you could write, direct, produce and star in your own video, describe your
ultimate fantasy scene.
My ultimate fantasy scene would be a scene where the guys meet in a very real environment, the
way people really meet, i.e., with a doubletake look at a party, at the gym, in a bar. I think what the movies miss
is the real passion that builds. My fantasy scene would show the foreplay leading up to the sex. You know
how when you're really hot for someone and you play around with them, and you get hard in your pants and
you can't keep your hands off them. Then they go to walk away, and you pull them back and you kiss them,
you know? It would start out that way and it would be with a hunky guy around 40-45 years old with a
tattoo. There would be some cigar smoking, because I like guys who smoke cigars. There would be
some acknowledgement of a guy's armpits and many smells. Starting with great oral, it would be an
absolutely mutual scene. We'd flow back and forth from top to bottom so naturally that it would go unnoticed. It
would culminate in the ultimate cum shot, and it would all be extremely safe sex.
You mentioned that you're into cigars. Explain the attraction.
The attraction to cigars, well... there are a couple of things. Freud said, "Sometimes a cigar is just
a cigar." But with me, that's not the case.
A cigar is very sexual to me. My dad smoked a cigar. Do I want to have sex with my dad? I don't
know. Personally, I think many homosexual men's homosexuality is wrapped up in the masculine imagery of
their father or an uncle. For me, the first association of what a man was had that smell of a cigar around it it
was my dad. That smell and that sight to me are the epitome of ultra hyper-masculinity. I don't have to have it,
but when it's there it certainly catches my attention.
So you smoke cigars?
Yeah, I do.
Do you find a lot of guys out there smoking cigars?
Sure, it has become increasingly more and more popular. Monica has helped.
I used a cigar in my first movie, Acres of
Ass; I put it where the sun don't shine on the guy I was with. And
I understand that the movie experienced a resurgence of rentals after the whole Monica Lewinsky thing.
What's your reaction to the fact that because of Monica Lewinsky, we're hearing
about oral sex and playing with cigars on the evening news?
To tell you the truth, I think it's unnecessary to get as graphic and descriptive about a person's private
sex life. I think it almost takes away from it when it's put out there on such a public level. Monica Lewinsky did
not have to reveal those details. While she's at it, why didn't she just say, "He stroked my mouth 47 times,
he almost came on the fifth stroke, then he ejaculated on my dress on the 48th stroke"? It was unnecessary.
To me, that shows the whole thing was either thought out beforehand or contrived.
Speaking of Monica's stained dress, have you ever kept a piece of stained clothing
from an exciting experience?
Well, yeah. But always with permission I'm not a klepto. And upon request, I'll gladly give my
underwear away.
I often ask porn stars which of the five senses is most important to them while
having sex. I'm guessing yours is smell?
Yes, smell. The cigar and the aroma of a man's armpits. And when you first take a man's jock or
underwear and you pull it down, and you sink your nose into that area, right where his balls, his dick and his thighs
meet, and you have... there's definitely, uh I'm getting hard now just thinking of it! That's how my animal
works: the thought of that smell sinking into my brain almost swoons me.
