Catching 'pre-criminals'

According to New Scientist, the US Department of Homeland Security is developing "Project Hostile," a crowd-scanning technology designed to detect "hostile thoughts" in people walking through border posts, airports and public places.

The sensors are supposed to spot would-be trouble-makers from their remotely-diagnosed pulse rate, breathing pattern and facial expressions. Once detected, such "pre-criminals" (along with those with heart murmurs, asthma and various stress disorders) would be reported to special pre-crime units for observation and tracking.

And you thought the movie Minority Report was dystopian science fiction...
