How to order
NIS investigator Chris Hart is handed dossiers on three sailors and told to go snooping into their private affairs. Their crime? "Fraudulent enlistment," says
Hart's superior officer. "They're all homosexuals." Hunkering on fire escapes and peeping through win- dows, Hart dutifully photographs incriminating sexual exploits.
The depravity he witnesses includes Christopher Robbin hanging by his knees from a piece of scaffolding to negotiate a vertical 69; a lean, poodle-haired dude named
Tyke fucking a civilian; and John Fell watching a
Star Trek rerun and munching Doritos before beating off to gay porn.
Hart, who apparently keeps the results of his sleuthing for his personal use, is of course as queer as the targets of his investigation. When we see him poring over
the evidence with opera CDs blaring in the background, all doubt is banished. (That male duet from The Pearl Fishers is a dead giveaway.) When he reports that the
charges of deviant activity are without foundation, he is ordered to participate in an impending raid on an off-limits gay bar near the base. Instead of cooperating, Hart
intercepts Fell, with whom he fallen in love, and warns him.
Top Brass is rough around the edges, and portions of it seems to have been edited with a Weed Whacker. But this is one of those rare, anomalous Bacchus
Releasing products that shows traces of talent, intelligence, and humor. The half-dozen sex scenes range from serviceable to hot. And the encounter between Fell and Hart, both
of whom look like real people, has a nice romantic ambience. Like far too few sequences in gay male porn (Paul Carrigan's scene with Damien Ford in Paul Barresi's
Good Fellas Bad Fellas comes to mind), it's a love scene.
