Georges Duroy, the protagonist of Guy de Maupassant's 1885 novel
Bel-Ami, uses sex as his ticket to power and prestige; George Duroy, the force behind Bel
Ami Entertainment, has likewise succeeded through sexual finesse. His directing talents have placed him on the top tier of international gay adult film production,
and delighted gay porn connoisseurs worldwide. In 1993-'94, Duroy began the craze for Eastern European models with his Falcon International releases
Accidental Lovers and Sauna Paradiso. He almost single-handedly made the Czech Republic the gay Mecca it is today (though he's based in Slovakia).
Enchanted Forest, Duroy's latest, is an unpretentious gem. The technical skills involved are almost peerless; the situations-- five sexual duos at campsites
and secluded spots in boulder-strewn woods cross-hatched with cascading streams-- are archetypally familiar. The distinctive strengths of this release are its
vitality and the nuanced, human interplay of its cast. Each set of partners is carefully matched. The first two segments soar because the young male couples
are convincing as lovers, not just playmates having sex. When Liam Phoenix and Steve Jennings ejaculate into each other's mouths, the reciprocity mirrors
mutual infatuation. When Sven Olafsson, an ardent blond, unrolls a condom onto Ethan Clarke's upthrust cock, the gesture is a grace note of affection.
John Rutherford's COLT Studio Group has recently taken over American distribution of Bel Ami Entertainment's output; it's the porn equivalent of an
alliance between Tiffany and Cartier.
