Thanks to the several readers who sent in clips about cable company Comcast accidentally airing hard-core action over the Disney Channel in some of its New Jersey market. It seems Disney's "Handy Manny" cartoon (not a
bad title for a porn flick...) was briefly interrupted by steamy video, prompting much local media coverage. Especially enjoyed was the New York
Daily News's headline for their blurb, "The Full Mickey."
Also noteworthy in the Daily News coverage was a quote from a five-year-old boy: "What are they doing?" the toddler reportedly asked his parents when the unexpected sexual scene showed up on his television screen.
Such a sensible question. And with a sensible answer. But, of course, that little boy has not yet learned just how damaged he has been by seeing what his father called "appalling" images. He will have to have it drilled into him
just how depraved, sick, and horrible it is to view such things.
D
awn is reminded of a recent trip to New York City. Trapped in a cab snarled in Midtown traffic with the hetero couple hosting the weekend's events, Dawn noticed a stark naked (save for workboots), swarthily handsome
young man standing on a remote traffic island; his considerable appendage was rising and falling, like those old-style mechanical stop-and-go traffic signals. Soon, all eyes in the cab-- and indeed, most of the block-- were glued to
the smiling, waving, and tumescing exhibitionist. "How awful!" sniffed The Wife in the cab. "Suppose children were to see this!"
"What do you mean?" Dawn asked.
"What would you tell a child who had to witness this?" exclaimed the visibly agitated W.
Not having any children, Dawn posed that question to the mother of Dawn's nephew. Without pause she answered, "I'd tell him that people don't always behave as we expect and that's part of what makes cities
interesting." Imagine-- teaching children to be curious instead of appalled....
