Dawn is pleased that both houses of the US Congress passed from Republican to Democratic control after last November's election. And Dawn is similarly happy that at long last there is discussion that maybe Bush's
self-styled "perpetual" war is not such a good idea. But Dawn sure wishes the Democrats would stiffen their spine.
Not one to simply carp, Dawn offers the Dems a concrete suggestion on spin management. The Bush/Cheney cabal has relentlessly stuck to the Rove script that to follow the Democrats' strategy of timed withdrawal
would lead to "failure" in Iraq. Instead of debating that point, the Democratic message should be that the "failure" occurred when the decision was made to mislead the American people into an unnecessary and disastrous
war. Initiating the war was the failure. That's the message Pelosi, Reid, and others should stick to. When you're in a hole, first stop digging....
