Rarely has Dawn lamented the death of Boyd McDonald more than when reading a recent news blurb from Elkhart, Indiana.
It seems that Donald Ray Rink, 66, president of the Elkhart City Park Board, was arrested in that burg's McNaughton Park, after he "behaved in an indecent manner with an undercover male police
officer," according to police reports. Rink pleaded guilty to public indecency, was fined $825, and sentenced to one year in jail, which was suspended.
Police said Rink asked an undercover police officer from the Anti-Crime Unit to join him in the men's restroom at McNaughton Park. Rink acted "in a sexual manner" to the officer (who evidently
accepted Rink's invite to the shithouse), and exposed himself, police spokesman Lt. Paul Converse said. After that, the officer arrested Rink. (With typical journalistic sloppiness, the newsclip sent to Dawn did not detail how far
the "indecency" progressed; did the cop get a hand job? a bj? were his buttocks fondled? licked? did anyone's asshole enter the picture?)
What makes this otherwise routine case of police corruption noteworthy is that Mr. Rink, in his capacity as park board prez, had recommended "cleaning up" Elkhart's parks through more undercover
police patrols, harsher punishments for bush sex aficionados, and publishing the names of those arrested in the local rag. He got all his wishes....
Subsequent to his arrest, Mr. Rink has resigned as president of the Elkhart City Park Board. Too bad Boyd can't comment.
