News that the Boy Scouts are losing many traditional funding sources because of their stand that only heteros can be morally straight gives Dawn only limited pleasure. The United Way,
et al, pride themselves that they are "pro-gay," but Dawn wonders.
Why not have truly pro-gay scouting based on the Greek model? Adolescent boys could receive ethical, educational, athletic, and sexual instruction from older "masters"; the Greeks believed that precisely
such instruction was essential to mold a truly moral man. Dawn heartily concurs, but fears that the United Way, and all those clucking at today's Boy Scouts, would reveal themselves to be actually quite anti-gay--
theoretical homosex is fine, real homosex remains condemnable.
